건축가 김택수는 호주 멜버른 RMIT 대학교에서 건축 석사과정 및 인테리어 학사과정을, 미국 SCI-Arc에서 건축을 전공하였다. 미국 미켈리사이 스튜디오에서 실무를 쌓았으며, 우리필름영화사에서 연출 디자이너로도 활동하였다. 이와 같은 경험을 바탕으로 건축, 인테리어, 그래픽, 디스플레이 연출 등 토털 디자인을 지향한다. 2002년 설립되어 15년차를 맞이한 버텍스디자인은 미국 LA와 뉴욕, 호주 멜버른과 일본 도쿄 등지와 활발한 디자인 네트워크를 형성하고 있으며, 건축, 인테리어, 감리와 시공에 이르기까지 종합 디자인 프로세스를 구축하고 있다. 주요 작품으로는 옥주현 요가스튜디오 에버, 곤지암주택, 인천영어마을, SK View Plaza, 한화 꿈에그린, 현대 힐스테이트, 성균관대학교 도서관 등이 있다.

소외된 것들, 가려져 잊혀진 것들
The Unseen and The Forgotten
우리는 종종 눈에 보이지 않는 것에 대한 가치를 잊곤 한다. 하지만 때로 그들의 가치는 값을 매길 수 없을 정도로 높은 것일지도 모른다. 건축물을 이루는 많은 요소들 중 소외되고 가려져 보이지 않지만 가장 원초적인 재료 ‘철근’의 가치를 재조명한다. 의식주(衣食住)는 사람이 살아가는데 가장 필수적인 요소이다. 우리 문화는 실제 입고 먹고 자는 데서 시작된다 해도 과언이 아니다. 이번 서울리빙디자인페어에서는 예로부터 농사를 짓고 살아간 우리 민족의 자급자족의 삶을 현대적인 주방공간으로 불러들여 재탄생하였다. 

We tend to forget the value of the things that are unseen or hidden behind the scenes. However, their value may be priceless to grade. Following the exhibition at Busan Design Festival last November, we revisit the value of one of the most primitive building material ‘steel’. Food, Clothing and Shelter are the most essential elements in people’s well-being. It is not an exaggeration to say that our culture derives from the way we eat, dress and sleep. This exhibition is a re-creation of a modern kitchen reflecting the self-sufficient lives of our ancestors.
