Studio HJRK의 김혜진 대표는 예술과 문화에 대한 인문학적 이해와 새로운 시각으로 섬세하게 공간을 연출하는 작업을 한다. 하이엔드 레지던스, 레스토랑, 클리닉, 오피스 등 다양한 공간에 고객의 취향과 니즈를 스튜디오만의 색깔로 감도 있게 풀어내며, 가구와 예술품 큐레이션으로 전체적인 조화로움을 이끈다.

김혜진 대표는 미국 일리노이 Northwestern University 에서 미술사학을, 프랑스 파리 École Camondo에서 실내건축과 제품 디자인을 전공했다.

광고대행사 Cheil Worldwide, 미술품 경매회사 Christie’s와 파리의 인테리어 디자인 스튜디오 India Mahdavi를 거친 후, 공간 디자인 스튜디오 studio HJRK를 서울에서 설립했다. 고객이 접하는 매일의 디자인에 변주를 주고자 studio HJRK 산하 브랜드 ‘Collection Voyageuse’를 최근 새롭게 소개하며, 스튜디오의 감성과 영감을 인테리어 오브제와 가구에 담아낸다.

공간 콘셉트

월든 2022

거리 distance 라는 단어가 이토록 익숙했던 적이 있었던가.
물리적인 뜻의 이 단어가 사회 정서 깊숙히 침투해와 우리의 삶을 낯설게 만들어버린 배경은 잠시 잊어보자.
지금 우리에게, 또다른 의미의 거리두기가 필요하지는 않을까.

19세기 미국 사상가인 소로우(Henry David Thoreau)는 도시를 떠나 월든 호숫가의 숲 속에서 홀로 오두막을 짓고 살았다. 자연에 파묻혀 고요히 보낸 2년 간의 기록인 그의 책 <월든>은 삶의 본질과 세상의 이치에 대한 그의 깨달음에 대해 이야기한다.

소로우는 말한다.
“각자가 ‘자기 자신의 고유한 길’을 조심스럽게 찾아내 그 길을 갔으면 한다.”
스스로 나답게 살아가는 힘은, 혼란과 자극의 홍수로부터 의도적으로 거리를 두고, 내면의 목소리에 조용히 귀 기울일 때 비로소 얻어진다.
시대는 변하고, 위기는 늘 새롭다.
그렇기에 우리 인생에 대한 답은 외부가 아닌, 바로 내 안에 있다.

2022년 오늘, 월든 호숫가의 오두막을 빌려 이곳에 왔다.
나를 마주하러 숲으로 들어가자.

Was there ever a time when the word “distance” felt so familiar?
Let us set aside for a moment how this word, which defines a measurement of physical space, penetrated so deeply into our social sentiment and made our lives feel foreign.
Perhaps we need a different kind of distancing today.

Henry David Thoreau, a 19th century American philosopher, left the city and lived in solitude in a cabin in the woods by Walden Pond. His book Walden is a record of his two years during which he immersed himself in nature and led a tranquil life; here he speaks of his epiphany about the essence of life and the way of the world.

Thoreau wrote:
“I would have each one be very careful to find out and pursue his own way.”
The power to live true to ourselves at our own will is attained only when we intentionally distance ourselves from the deluge of chaos and stimulus and quietly give ear to our inner voices.
Times change and crisis is always new.
Hence the answers to the questions concerning our lives are found not around us, but rather within ourselves.

The cabin by Walden Pond brings us here today.
Let us step into the woods to face ourselves.
